OCALA, FL (352today.com) – September 11, 2001, is a day that our nation will never forget. It is the day that we were attacked on our own soil and that took nearly 3,000 lives.

In 2017, Rondo Fernandez, owner of Mojo Grill & Catering in Ocala and Belleview, organized Feeding the Fearless – an event to honor our hometown heroes; our emergency workers, police officers, and fire rescue personnel.

“Giving back to our community is a part of who we are,” it states on Mojo’s website. Fernandez lives that every day, contributing time and money through Give Back Nights.

In the past, the Feeding the Fearless kickoff has taken place at Mojo’s on SW 17th Street in Ocala. This year, more participants are expected than ever moving the assembly to the Ocala Shrine Club on SE Maricamp Road.

Things run like clockwork. Around 10 a.m., volunteers who will load the delivery vehicles arrive. Thirty minutes, volunteers who will deliver the meals arrive, bringing any care packages they have to the check-in table. Before loading the vehicles with meals, Fernandez leads a prayer circle asking for blessings for the volunteers, the food, the community, and – most importantly – our heroes.
