OCALA, FL (352today.com) – You’ve heard the phrase, “If you know you know.”  If you were around in 2001, you know.

September 11, 2001, is a day that will always be remembered in our country. Many people can recall exactly where they were when they learned that the first of the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center had collapsed in New York City after terrorists hijacked two commercial planes and crashed them into the iconic buildings.

Rondo Fernandez, owner of the Mojo Grill & Catering Company, never forgets the sacrifices made by our first responders that day and every day.

This Wednesday, September 11, 2024, he will once again host the kickoff for Feeding the Fearless at Mojo’s on SW 17th Street in Ocala.

“We are feeding 1,435 first responders this year,” says Meadow Terry, marketing manager & administrative assistant for Mojo’s.

Volunteers arrive around 10 a.m. to load the delivery vehicles. Thirty minutes later, those delivering the meals show up, bringing any care packages to the check-in table.

Before they start loading the meals, Fernandez leads a prayer circle to ask for blessings for the volunteers, the food, the community, and especially for our heroes.

In the event of rain, Terry says that the tentative plan is to have the check-in and prayer inside of the restaurant.

This is Terry’s second year working on the event, and she is excited to be involved again.  “I am most looking forward to seeing the community come together on Wednesday and give back to those who give to us on a daily basis,” says Terry.

North Central Florida Media, the parent company of 352today, 93.7 K-Country, and 92.5/95.5 Wind-FM, will be participating in this event, once again.

“We at K-Country are extremely honored to support Mojo’s in Feeding the Fearless,” says Mr. Bob, K-Country program director and host of the Mr. Bob Morning Show.  “Our first responders put their own lives on the line in order to save our lives when responding to critical emergency situations.  To this, we are eternally grateful for their service to our community.”

Both K-Country and Wind-FM will be delivering lunch to our first responders in their station vans.

“It’s an honor to be a part of Feeding the Fearless,” shares Hunter, Wind-FM program director and host of the Hunter & Dupree morning show.  “Watching the community pitch-in to say thank you to our first responders is reminiscent of the teamwork we saw after 9/11.”

This year’s sponsors include Zone Health & Fitness, NOW Church, Regions Bank, Cheney Brothers, Sonny’s BBQ, Chicken Salad Chick, The Villages Insurance, 1-800-BoardUp, Team Cone, South Point Church, and Village Bread & Bagel.
