MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) battled a blaze Tuesday that left a Summerfield family homeless.
MCFR dispatched units to a home in the 1700 block of SE 178th St. around 5:30 a.m.
The department says multiple 911 callers reported the fire with smoke and flames visible, and no confirmation whether the people living there had escaped.
Once on scene, MCFR says they located the one person who was home at the time of the fire.
“The sole occupant of the home was transported to a local hospital after falling on the ground while escaping the fire,” said MCFR in a Facebook post.
Firefighters say a total of five adults and one child are now displaced due to the fire. The American Red Cross is helping them.
MCFR says the fire was under control within 30 minutes. They don’t know at this time what caused it.
