OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump evoked widespread reaction, as well as calls for unity and support.

Florida-based attorney Dan Newlin is channeling his emotion into action.

“I was with a group of close friends, we were all overwhelmed with emotions as we watched the footage repeatedly,” said Newlin in a news release. “It was a moment that shook us to our core. The gravity of the situation seemed to permeate across the globe, leaving us feeling a profound sense of sadness and disbelief.”

Newlin, a 28-year veteran of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, expressed concern after hearing of the shooting at the political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, that wounded Trump and left one man dead and at least two others with critical injuries.

“As I observed the bullet strike the right side of the President’s face, my heart sank as he fell to the floor. In that moment, I
also noticed a woman immediately fall behind him, realizing that she had been hit by the very bullet intended for President
Trump.”

The man who died, Corey Comperatore, is former fire chief who witnesses say spent his final moments diving down in front of his wife and daughter, protecting them from the gunfire.

At least two other men from Pennsylvania were injured: 57-year-old David Dutch and 74-year-old James Copenhaver.

GoFundMe launched to support Comperatore’s family has already raised nearly $1 million in donations as of this publication date.

Newlin too has pledged to support the victims and their families. He has committed one million dollars to each family who lost a loved one during the assassination attempt. He also pledged $100,000 for the individuals who were critically injured.

Newlin says he hopes that this financial support will provide some relief and support to the victims and their families.
