TALLAHASSEE, FL (352today.com) – The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) and Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) have once again teamed up for what’s become a Sunshine State holiday season tradition: the “Stuff the Charger” food drive.
Through Nov. 30, Floridians are, ahem, charged with donating what they can to help combat food scarcity among their fellow citizens. The campaign partners with local organizations statewide to help combat hunger.
“Floridians have always shown resilience and generosity, especially in times of need,” said FLHSMV Executive Director Dave Kerner. “By loading our Chargers with food donations, we are delivering hope into Florida homes and helping families embrace the holiday season with dignity and joy.”
Some suggested items for donation
- canned goods such as canned meats, vegetables, fruits, and soups
- dried goods like stuffing, boxed potatoes, rice, cornbread mix, grits, cereal, and oatmeal
- other miscellaneous items with a long shelf life, including nuts, peanut butter, evaporated milk, bottled water, and broth
Those who wish to donate can do so at any local FHP station, and the “Stuff the Charger” campaign will be hosting various local events through November. You can also contact your local FHP public affairs officer for more information.
