OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Florida motorists saw a brief dip in gas prices last week, with the state average falling below $3 per gallon on Friday before rebounding over the weekend.

According to AAA – The Auto Club Group, the average price of gas in Florida on Sunday was $3.10 per gallon. This marks a half-cent decrease from a week ago and a four-cent drop compared to last month. However, prices remain 5 cents higher than this time last year.

“Florida gas prices don’t hold still for very long,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesperson for AAA. “The state average moved lower through the week. By Friday, it dropped below $3 but rebounded through the weekend. Gas prices typically move lower through the winter months, because of colder weather, lower demand, and gasoline supply gains. These factors will likely help push gasoline back below $3 a gallon this month.”

Friday’s average price of $2.99 per gallon was the lowest recorded since January 22, 2024. Meanwhile, domestic crude oil prices dipped 1% last week, and gasoline futures fell by 4 cents.

In Ocala, the average price of gas stood at $3.14 per gallon on Monday, according to GasBuddy.
