GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – Gainesville Mayor Harvey Ward will give a Key to the City to the punk rock band Hot Water Music during their 30-year anniversary celebration.
This event will happen at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, at City Hall, located at 200 E. University Ave. The band is recognized for its impact on the punk music scene and for helping to make Gainesville a well-known spot for music fans worldwide.
Mayor Ward will declare Oct. 24 as “Hot Water Music Day” in Gainesville. This honor celebrates the band’s significant impact on the local music scene and its dedicated fans around the world.
This week, FEST, the independent music festival, takes over the city Oct. 25-27 in various locations. Hot Water Music is set to play at Bo Diddley Plaza on Thursday and Friday nights during FEST.
The celebration of Hot Water Music contributes to a rising number of Gainesville musicians recognized by the city. In October, Mayor Ward awarded a Key to the City to musician Laura Jane Grace for her impact on the music scene.
