GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE: The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) needs your help locating a person who they say is a “key witness” to a homicide on Sept. 2.

GPD is trying to locate Andra “Deon” Reese.  They say he’s a key witness to a homicide that occurred near East University Ave/NE Waldo Rd.

GPD is not releasing the victim’s identity at this time. When 352today asked, the public information officer would only say the victim is a black male and that he died on Sept. 5, three days after the shooting.

ORIGINAL: The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is investigating a weekend shooting that left one person with life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, Sept. 2, just after 6 p.m., GPD officers responded to multiple calls of gunshots in the area of 200 NE Waldo Road.

Once they got on scene officers say they found a person with a gunshot wound. GPD says the victim was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital with life-threatening injuries. GPD did not reveal whether the victim is a man or a woman or if they know the person’s identity.
