GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – Gators star running back Trever Etienne announced via social media Thursday he is entering the transfer portal.

“Gator Nation, what a ride it has been! I am forever grateful for the opportunity to put on the orange and blue every Saturday, going to miss war with my teammates who would become my brothers for life,” shared Etienne in a post on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).

He also thanked head football coach Billy Napier and his entire staff for their support and guidance during his time at the university.

“My time as a Gator was an invaluable experience and one that I will cherish for years to come,” added Etienne.

He was a true freshman for the Gators in 2022 playing in all thirteen games. He finished the season with 118 rushes for 719 yards and six touchdowns.

During the 2023 season, Etienne played in 11 games with one start during Florida’s 2023 season. He was often in rotation with junior running back Montrell Johnson, who started the first 11 games of the season. Etienne ended that season with eight rushing touchdowns, leading the team. He averaged over 68 yards per game and finished the season with 753 total rushing yards.

Etienne is the younger brother of Travis Etienne, a running back for the Jacksonville Jaguars. For some, it was anticipated that Trevor would enter the transfer portal after his 2023 season.

Etienne joins many other Gators in the portal:
