OCALA, FL (352today.com) – As the first day of school inches closer and closer, Marion County Animal Services (MCAS) is continuing to supply local students with necessities through Mission: Bus Brigade. This fundraiser collects donations and school supplies to help needy kids in the Marion County community.

For the rest of July, MCAS is offering free adoptions to anyone who donates supplies to the shelter. This deal applies to the available cats and dogs. Dog adoptions are business as usual, while cat adoptions from the shelter are still paused due to an outbreak of feline panleukopenia. Foster cats are still available to be adopted.

During this closure, MCAS has had to find creative ways for their cats in foster homes to meet potential adoptees, like the adoption trailer takeover on July 17. MCAS hosted foster kittens in their adoption trailer just outside of the shelter, meaning that these adoptable cats could find homes without risking their health.

Keep an eye on the MCAS Facebook page for information on future pop-up events. You can also stop by the shelter to meet the dogs looking for their forever homes, like these pets of the week.
