Governor DeSantis breaks ground on I-75 expansion and new Buc-ee’s interchange in Marion County
The Moving Florida Forward project aims to ease traffic congestion with new auxiliary lanes and a 49th Street interchange, bringing a highly anticipated Buc-ee’s to Ocala.
OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Secretary Jared Perdue, and the Board of County Commissioners gathered at the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing for a groundbreaking ceremony marking the start of major infrastructure improvements on Interstate 75 on Tuesday. Feb. 25.
As part of the Moving Florida Forward Infrastructure Initiative, the project will add auxiliary lanes on I-75 and construct a new interchange at 49th Street.

These enhancements aim to alleviate congestion on one of Florida’s busiest north-south corridors, stretching from State Road 44 to State Road 326.
One of the most anticipated additions to the area is Buc-ee’s, the popular travel center known for its massive convenience stores, clean restrooms, and extensive food selections. The new interchange will provide direct access to this future attraction, boosting local economic growth and improving traffic flow for residents and visitors alike.
