GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is asking for your help finding a man wanted for attempted homicide and multiple other charges.

On Tuesday, Aug. 29, officers responded to 2800 Northeast 10th Drive after they were contacted by a woman stating a bullet grazed her face.

According to GPD, the female victim was sitting in a car with a male friend when she was approached by a man named Jalen Patterson.

Patterson allegedly tried to rob the male. The female then tried to get in between the two. During a struggle, GPD says the gun went off and the bullet grazed the woman’s face.

According to officers, Patterson also tried to shoot the male, but the firearm malfunctioned. They say Patterson ran off.

After further investigation, detectives discovered that the victim and Patterson were in a relationship.

“Officers and detectives were able to gather that this was an incident of dating violence and that the female victim and male friend were targeted by the female’s boyfriend…” said the police department.

Patterson, 28. is wanted for attempted armed robbery, aggravated battery, attempted homicide, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
