TALLAHASSEE, FL (352today.com) – On Friday, Tallahassee faced intense weather involving multiple thunderstorms and two confirmed EF-2 tornadoes, the likes of which left thousands without power.
With the city facing blocked roads from downed trees and destroyed circuits, help was desperately needed to bring the city back to full strength and restore the grid as quickly as possible.
This is where Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) stepped in.
When the catastrophic weather cleared the state’s capital, GRU got to work by sending 16 personnel in 12 utility vehicles to assist in restoration efforts.
Over the last several days, their efforts paid off. Employees of GRU changed out more than 20 distribution poles and repair more than two miles of overhead conductor, restoring electricity to thousands of Floridians.
Chris Delinski, GRU Director of Electric Transmission & Distribution Operations, says crews are expected to stay in the area and work until all customers have their power restored.
