OCALA, FL (352today.com) – HCA Florida Healthcare served as a gold sponsor for the 15th Annual Fundraiser for HUGS Charity, held Feb. 24 by the Cancer Alliance of Marion County. The event honored local cancer survivor Tom Ingram.

HCA Florida Ocala Hospital CEO Alan Keesee, Dr. George Rossidis, MD, and Lisa McGuire, oncology director for HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion, attended the fundraiser on behalf of the hospitals.

HUGS Charity raises funds for cancer research, prevention, detection and treatment while also providing financial assistance to individuals undergoing treatment. In 2024, the organization distributed nearly $94,000 to Marion County cancer patients.

HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion have been recognized by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer for their comprehensive community cancer programs. Both hospitals are also accredited under the ACS’s National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, which ensures evidence-based care for breast cancer patients.
