The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday.

The meteorologists say you should expect heat index values up to 111 degrees across North Central Florida.

The NWS says the hot temperatures combined with high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

To protect yourself and others take these steps:

  • Drink plenty of fluids
  • Stay in an air-conditioning
  • Stay out of the sun
  • Check on relatives and neighbors

If you have to be outside, take extra precautions including:

  • Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing
  • Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening
