HERNANDO COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Hernando County is assessing damage this morning after Hurricane Milton made landfall overnight.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Department asks that all residents avoid roadways due to numerous hazards caused by downed power lines, malfunctioning traffic lights, and fallen trees.

Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis addresses the issues in a video posted on the agency’s Facebook page:

Sheriff Nienhuis says that emergency crews are actively working to clear roads and restore power, but dangerous conditions persist.

These are the roads last reported as closed.:

  • 12429 Ponce De Leon Blvd. –Tree down blocking the road
  • Mondon Hill Rd./Laird Rd.– Wires and tree down
  • Ponce De Leon/Yontz Rd.– Tree on wires, road blocked
  • Foley St./Fitzhugh Ave.– Tree down blocking the road
  • Fort Dade and Citrus Way – Tree down blocking the road
  • 13095 Bamboo St.– Tree down blocking the road
  • 801 Buena Vista Ave. – Tree blocking the road
  • Lake Lindsey Rd./Snow Memorial Highway – Tree blocking the road
  • 518 East Ave.– Tree blocking the road
