OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A 25-year-old convicted felon was arrested following a high-speed pursuit that began in a Wendy’s parking lot and ended with a crash and foot chase, according to the Ocala Police Department (OPD).
On May 10 around 3:30 p.m., OPD officers responded to a report of a disturbance at Wendy’s, located at 3001 E Silver Springs Blvd. Witnesses reported that a man, later identified as Voshon Brown, displayed a rifle before fleeing the scene in a white sedan.
According to OPD, Brown drove recklessly at high speeds in the wrong lane and struck another vehicle before crashing through a wooden fence at the Mustang Apartments, causing significant damage. He then attempted to flee on foot while carrying a rifle.
Officer Hernandez pursued Brown and deployed a taser, successfully apprehending him. OPD says the rifle was recovered from beneath a nearby parked vehicle. Officers also located marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside Brown’s car.
Brown, who is a convicted felon, was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. He was later booked into the Marion County Jail. Officer Labbe arrested Brown on multiple charges, including aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and tampering with evidence.
