OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A 76-year-old man is dead as the result of a hit-and-run accident.
The incident occurred at 7:57 p.m. on Sept. 23. The man was pushing a cart of groceries, walking north across the westbound lanes of SR 200 at the intersection of SW 60th St., in an area with no lighting.
The vehicle struck the victim with its front section. The driver fled the scene of the incident and continued traveling westbound.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The westbound lanes of SR 200 were temporarily closed while the investigation was being conducted.
It is believed that the hit-and-run vehicle is dark in color, a full-sized van with a topper, and has front end damage to the grill area.
