HOMOSASSA, FL (352today.com)—A structure fire in Homosassa destroyed a double-wide mobile home, resulting in total loss.
The Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR) responded to the fire on the morning of Wednesday, October 23.
The mobile home was located on W. Oaklawn St. in Homosassa, according to CCFR.
CCFR says firefighters found an approximately 1,500-square-foot double-wide mobile home that was half-engulfed in flames.
Fire engines immediately began putting out the flames. They called the fire under control 20 minutes after arrival.
Residents believe that the fire began in the master bathroom, where a burning candle and incense are believed to have contributed to its ignition.
CCFR says the mobile home was without power at the time of the fire, and a generator connected to the breaker box was not in operation.
Firefighters say all occupants of the home were safely outside. There were no injuries to report.
Firefighters estimate the property and content loss at $200,000. They categorize the property as a “complete loss” due to “extensive” fire, smoke, and water damage.
MCFR are currently unsure if smoke detectors were present in the residence at the time of the fire.
CCFR advises you to never leave a burning candle unattended. Always extinguish candles before leaving a room, your home, or going to bed.
