OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Jumping on a trampoline in her backyard at 13 years old would lead Dr. Angelia Roberts Reddy to her career path.
When Reddy got off the trampoline, she struggled to breathe.
“There was this sharp pain that was taking my breath away,” said Reddy, who grew up in Williston.
Doctor’s Visit Serves as Inspiration
Her mother suggested she see their hometown chiropractor, Dr. Burrack.
“I went to go and see him,” said Reddy. “I knew I wanted to be a doctor, but I didn’t know how that was going to work, because I hate medicine and hospitals. He put me on the table, adjusted me, I got up, and the pain was gone instantly. I could breathe again. And I said to myself, ‘This is the kind of doctor I want to be.’ My mother basically ran the hospital in Williston, and I grew up running those halls.”
Family Life and Career
Marriage and children would also come into the picture, but Reddy fulfilled her dream of becoming a chiropractor and establishing her own practice. However, after giving birth to her third child, her practice shifted primarily to referrals.
Personal Pain Leads to Professional Transformation
Until about nine years ago, Reddy was a hands-only chiropractor. But an unexpected health crisis changed her approach. She developed undiagnosed pain that no medical or alternative practitioner could alleviate.
Reddy spent four months in severe pain, not being able to alleviate it, often crying herself to sleep.
“It was a pelvic floor (issue), and that’s why I started to help women with pelvic floor injuries,” said Reddy. “I was into really heavy exercise and weight training at the time. The stress and everything caused everything to tense up, and it was a pain that wouldn’t respond to anything.”
Unanticipated Source of Solace
Relief finally came from an unexpected source.
“Fortunately, I had a medical rep with a cold laser who said, ‘I think this will help you,'” said Reddy. “After about three days, I had the first break in my pain. It was only about 30 minutes, but I figured there was something here. Two weeks later, I was starting to feel like myself again, and a month later, I was pain-free. Laser therapy saved my life. I would not be here today if it were not for that device.”
Reddy purchased her own laser, initially just for personal use, but the experience sparked a deep interest in laser therapy. Though content with working from home, her passion for lasers grew.
“I was happy, content, doing my thing, but then I started adding laser therapy and really started digging into the world of lasers,” said Reddy. “That’s when the full-body red light laser came on the scene. As soon as I saw it, I said, ‘I will have that one day.’ A couple of years ago, I purchased the bed and put it in my house. Patients were coming and going, and with that, other modalities started to come in.”
Multiple Modalities
She then explored shockwave therapy, realizing that as a chiropractor, hands are the greatest asset. But her own struggle made her recognize the limitations of traditional methods. That led to the creation of the Cell-U-Light Therapy Center.
“I outgrew my house,” said Reddy. “My practice took over my entire downstairs and even outside by the pool because we added hot and cold plunge therapy.”
Vibration therapy also became part of her practice, a method with origins in NASA.
“The astronauts in outer space come back from zero gravity, and they were suffering from muscle atrophy and bone loss, despite the exercise they had set up for them,” said Reddy. “They had to find a way to encourage maintaining their muscle and their bone density. So, that’s where the vibration therapy came into place. I started incorporating it with the bed because I saw some patients who weren’t responding as most and what I expected from the bed… some of the people their systems were overloaded with such heavy toxins, they weren’t able to respond as fast as I wanted them to.”
By combining vibration therapy with the laser bed, results improved dramatically.
“I kind of discovered, in and of myself, just standing on the vibration plate before I went and did my jog, because it would increase my pace. without any added effort, ” said Reddy. “So, as I was standing on it for 10 minutes, I said, I’m just going to do a few weights while I’m here. Before I knew it, it was 30 minutes on it, and I couldn’t walk. The muscles were firing constantly during those 30 minutes, and that’s when the vision came in to have a plate where you have the space to actually do a full-body workout.”
Assisting Healthier Lifestyles
Reddy acknowledges that modern life presents challenges to living healthily.
“Even if we’re doing everything right, there are things that we’re exposed to that we just can’t escape,” said Reddy. “It depletes our cells, and our cells are working overtime to try to pump out energy and they’re working at half the capacity that they’re capable of doing. It’s just the dirty energy out there. Our foods are not as nutritious as they used to be.”
The therapies she offers help optimize the body’s natural functions. Reddy explained that chiropractic is neurologically based. It’s about reducing interference to the nervous system.
“So, when there’s all these neurotoxins out there, and you could be doing everything you think is right, and it’s still just not enough, there are things that we add in there that help to maintain the health and integrity of the nervous system,” said Reddy.
More Than Just Looks
Cellulite therapy wasn’t originally in Reddy’s plans, but patient results have been rewarding.
“Everything that I do in that room, makes their body function better,” said Reddy. “It’s not just about eliminating fat or cellulite, it improves the connective tissue. It helps to heal the connective tissue, which is going to make your body function more optimally. So, if you have a woman who has cellulite on her legs, the connective tissue is actually unhealthy. The strident desiccated so the muscle can’t function, because the fascia is all bound up. They may be coming for an appearance, an aesthetic thing, but it’s actually going to be improving their overall quality of life.”
Ultimate U Membership
Cell-U-Light Therapy offers an Ultimate U membership, which includes five different therapies.
“One is great, but it adds to the whole, so to speak,” said Reddy. “We have a certain step-by-step guide you can follow in what order you should do the therapies in, but if you wanted to do one, one day, and the others the next, you could, but that is for our members that do the Ultimate U membership, and have unlimited access to that,” said Reddy. “We do everything individually, and there are packages. The Ultimate U is by far the best deal, and the most convenient. Anything that heals the body must be done with consistency.”
From a childhood trampoline injury to life-saving laser therapy, Reddy’s journey has shaped a practice that blends cutting-edge technology with holistic healing, helping patients achieve optimal wellness.
