NEWBERRY, FL (352today.com) – As Hurricane Debby continues its surge across the state of Florida and beyond, the torrential rainfall left in her wake has caused fallout – literally.

Alachua County posted photos on its Facebook page showing a 35-foot wide, 15-foot-deep sinkhole on the shoulder of State Road 26 which is also known as West Newberry Road.

The county says West Newberry Road is closed in both directions near the Gilchrist County line.

They say the road is unstable and the sinkhole is “continuing to expand.”
