ALACHUA COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE, 4:45 p.m.: Traffic appears to be flowing again on I-75 southbound near the Archer Road exit. A check of the FL511 traffic network at 4:45 p.m. shows no back up.
ORIGINAL, 1:11 p.m.: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reports a major tie-up on Interstate 75 (I-75) southbound in Gainesville.
Witnesses tell 352today there is a tractor trailer on fire near the State Road (SR) 24/Archer Road interchange at mile marker 384.
Florida 511, the state’s real-time traffic reporting system, indicates the right lane is blocked and the on-ramp to the interstate from Archer Road is closed.
At 1:11 p.m., the state’s traffic camera in that area showed traffic backed.
FDOT says the incident started around 11 a.m. Saturday.
You should avoid the area until the burned up 18-wheeler can be removed.
