OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The 29th Annual Frank DeLuca YMCA Family Center Turkey Trot brought runners to the streets of Ocala on Thanksgiving morning.
Despite thick fog and low visibility, the event saw 1,889 participants across the 5K and 10K races, with around 300 of those runners tackling the 10k course.
The Turkey Trot is a cherished Thanksgiving tradition across America. It attracts families, seasoned athletes, and first-time runners, all looking to kick off the holiday with energy and community spirit. Many participants wore festive outfits, adding to the fun atmosphere.
Since 1996, the event has grown into a key part of Ocala’s holiday season. Proceeds support YMCA programs focused on youth development, wellness, and community outreach.
Despite the fog, the excitement was palpable as runners crossed the finish line. Family and friends cheered from the sidelines, celebrating the start of another Thanksgiving.
