REDDICK, FL (352today.com) – A verbal altercation between two men who were involved in a relationship turned into murder.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office‘s major crimes unit arrested Henry Jonathan Valencia, 23, July 11, 2025, for second degree murder, a felony charge for murder dangerous depraved without premeditation.
MCSO deputies responded to the Petro gas station located at Hwy. 318 and I-75 at approximately 2:24 on May 30, 2025, in reference to a shooting. When they arrived on the scene, the deputies found Nosiah Santos, 17, suffering from a gunshot wound. Marion County Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene of the incident, transporting the victim to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where he would succumb to his injuries, a gunshot wound to his upper torso.
It was learned during the investigation that Valencia and Santos were involved in a relationship, arriving at the scene of the incident in the same vehicle While at the gas pumps, the two men became engaged in a verbal altercation, with Valencia becoming upset that Santos had been messaging other men.
Valencia drove away from the gas pump, while the men were still engaged in their argument, leaving Santos at the scene. The alleged then parked the vehicle, proceeded to walk back to the pumps and again confronted the victim. Valencia walked away several times, continuing to argue with Santos.
While Santos appeared to disengage from the argument, the alleged drew a firearm and shot the victim. After the shooting, Valencia struck Santos several times in the head, returned to his vehicle and drove back to Jacksonville.
The alleged was arrested based on the evidence and witness statements. Valencia was transported to the Marion County Jail and is being held without bond.
