LADY LAKE, FL (352today) – The Lady Lake Library is getting ready for a big expansion project.

Starting Monday, Oct. 28, construction fencing will go up around the area. The library will stay open, and services will not be interrupted, but the Town of Lady Lake says that some areas will be temporarily closed including:

  • The west entrance next to the Guava Street Athletic Complex
  • The nearby parking lot

All other public parking will still be accessible, and visitors can use the front and youth library entrances on Guava Street.

The library asks that visitors to allow extra time for parking and to expect increased noise during construction.

This expansion is funded in part by a $1 million Lake County Library Impact Fee grant, which was awarded in August. The grant will help fund the Children’s Library expansion, while the Town of Lady Lake will cover the remaining costs. These include an expansion of the Information Technology Department and the addition of a Growth Management annex.

The expansion will significantly upgrade the library’s offerings, including a 69% increase in the youth library area, from 4,560 sq. ft. to 7,697 sq. ft. A new lobby, an additional elevator, and a landing area for the second-floor Children’s Library will add more than 3,000 sq. ft. to public spaces.

The library, which serves over 16,000 cardholders and welcomes 14,500 visitors monthly, is preparing for the town’s anticipated population growth. The expanded space will provide room for more programs, reading areas, and study spaces, along with a 25% increase in the children’s collection.
