LADY LAKE, FL (352today.com) – The year-long search for the killer of a young man in Lady Lake continues and the police department is taking steps to renew interest in the unsolved crime.
Lady Lake Police Department (LLPD) says 20-year-old Bryson Leverette was one of two people shot at 104 Caroline Ave. on June 30, 2023.
Initial investigations revealed that both victims were in the Skyline Hills area of Lady Lake at around 12:44 a.m. when they were attacked by a group armed with several different firearms. Lady Lake responded to the case and attempted to save the life of Leverette.
LLPD pronounced him dead at the scene shortly after.
After almost a year of investigations, no arrests have been made in connection to the murders.
LLPD recently assigned a new detective to the case, who they believe will bring a “fresh perspective.” LLPD Detective James Dunagan recently joined the department with more than 20 years of law enforcement experience under his badge.
In the year since his passing, police say Leverette’s girlfriend gave birth to their son, and his mother continues to grieve his death. Det. Dunagan says he wishes to find closure for Leverette’s family.
“I am committed to working toward a resolution for Bryson’s family. They deserve answers,” said Dunagan. “We ask that anyone with information come forward to help us bring justice in this case.”
