LADY LAKE, FL (352today) – The Town of Lady Lake invites residents to a free cybersecurity awareness presentation on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Lady Lake Library, Room 219, led by Lady Lake Security Analyst Howard Davis, the town’s IT cybersecurity expert.
Lady Lake Police recently investigated several fraud cases where local seniors were tricked into sending money to imposters after being contacted either online or by phone.
The session will help residents avoid becoming victims by equipping them with practical tools to recognize and avoid common online threats. Davis will break down the most widespread forms of social engineering and explain how cybercriminals use deceptive tactics to gain access to personal or financial information. Attendees will also learn best practices for creating strong, secure passwords and protecting themselves across digital platforms.
“This session is designed to help you build confidence in spotting potential cyber threats before they become a serious problem,” said Davis. “You’ll learn essential safety practices and simple protective measures that can make a big difference in keeping your personal information secure.”
The presentation is for all levels of computer users and emphasizes real-world examples to help residents stay safe online.
