WILDWOOD, FL (352today.com) – The City of Wildwood is putting up the proverbial “pardon our progress” sign while it overhauls Lake Deaton Park.

The city says it will be doing major upgrades at the park and will have to shut it down for several weeks until the work is complete.

Wildwood officials say Lake Deaton Park will close temporarily starting Monday, Feb. 19. The city hopes to have it back open by the end of April.

The city says the improvement project includes upgrading to the facility’s heavily used boat ramp, fishing pier, pavement, and signage.

“While we understand Lake Deaton is an extremely popular site for boating, fishing, and other passive recreation, we always prioritize public safety,” explained Interim Parks and Recreation Director Jason Wheeler. “When finished, the work will provide a greatly enhanced experience as a reward for the temporarily inconvenience.”
