CITRUS COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is reminding residents who still need disaster assistance from Hurricane Idalia that the deadline to apply is looming.
CCSO says today, Wednesday, Nov. 29 is the last day to apply for you or anyone who may have been impacted by Hurricane Idalia.
Idalia devastated Florida’s Gulf Coast when the category 3 hurricane made landfall on August 30.
If you live in Charlotte, Citrus, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Hernando, Hillsborough, Jefferson, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Sarasota, Suwannee or Taylor counties and endured any loss from the hurricane, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) may be able to help you.
The sheriff’s office shared in a Facebook post you may be eligible for financial assistance for lodging, home repair, personal property losses, and other related costs that are not covered by insurance.
FEMA and the U.S Small Business Administration are working together to provide the disaster recovery assistance. The SBA is granting citizens a 15-day grace period after the Nov. 29 deadline. They say citizens will have to provide them a good reason for not being able to make the deadline before they will accept the application.
The SBA says it also has another deadline of May 31, 2024, for the economic injury disaster loan. This deadline applies to businesses in Alachua, Baker, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Lee, Leon, Marion, Polk, Sumter, Union, and Wakulla counties.
To apply, you can call toll-free number at 800-621-3362 which is available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. eastern time. You can also visit the website here or download the FEMA app.
