LEESBURG, FL (352today.com) – The Leesburg Police Department (LPD) needs the community’s help to identify the person they say robbed and killed a convenience store clerk.

Over the weekend, they released several security camera images that show a clear image of the man’s face.

What happened
Police say on Thursday around 9:00 p.m. officers were called to the Fast Stop Superette at 3702 Picciola Rd. in Leesburg in reference to a robbery and shooting.

When they got there, they say the found the clerk laying on the floor with at least one gunshot wound. The clerk was airlifted to Ocala Regional Hospital where he later died.

LPD brought in their K-9 unit and requested the Lake County Sheriff’s Office to fly its helicopter to search for the person responsible. Police say they did an extensive search but were not successful in tracking the man down.

Security cameras captured images of the man from several angles.
