LEVY COUNTY, FL (352today.com)- The Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) says they’re investigating a murder-suicide. They say a man shot and killed a woman he was in a romantic relationship with, and then killed himself.

The sheriff’s office says they responded to Morriston after receiving reports of a shooting on Friday, Jan. 5. They say when they arrived, they discovered a man and woman inside of a car at a “residential location.” Deputies say both individuals had gunshot wounds.

Further investigation revealed that a man who LCSO identified as Daniel Drake and a woman identified as Jeanette Pfleger had been involved in a long-term relationship that was ending.

The sheriff’s office says evidence revealed that Drake convinced Pfleger to get into the car with him. They say afterwards, he killed Pfleger and then tried to kill himself. Drake was transported to a local trauma unit at a hospital where he later died from a “self-inflicted” gunshot wound.

“This is a sad ending, and the thoughts and prayers of the Levy County Sheriff’s Office are extended to all those effected by this senseless act of domestic violence,” said LCSO in a news release.
