GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – When a local, family-owned restaurant treats their employees like family, it’s a recipe for success.

Sighle “Sheila” Williams has worked at Mac’s Drive Thru in Gainesville for 37 years. Last Friday, October 11, was her last day.

Mac’s owner Ron DeFilippo says, “As a small business owner, I’m a big believer of people over profits. Sighle embodies what we stand for- genuine human connections in a world that often prioritizes speed over substance.” DeFilippo goes on to say, “We want her last day behind the window to be as memorable as she’s made every customer feel.”

To achieve that, Williams was given all the revenue for the day.

Williams spoke with Wind-FM morning show hosts Hunter and Dupree. When asked what her favorite menu item at Mac’s Drive Thru was, she said it was a ham and cheese on a cold bun with lettuce, tomato, onion with salt and pepper but also added, “Everything is good at Mac’s.”

As for what she plans to do, Williams says she needs to take a little break for herself and travel.

Award-winning Insignia Films will make a short documentary about her last day and how it represents a broader experience.
