OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A 33-year-old man is dead after he was hit by a train Thursday afternoon.
The Ocala Police Department (OPD) responded to a railroad crossing near the 2000 block of Northeast 19th Avenue around 12:30 p.m. where a man was struck by a CSX train traveling south. According to officers, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
OPD says the train carrying 162 cars left from Jacksonville and was headed to Lakeland, FL.
The railroad crossing on Northeast 19th Avenue was blocked for a period of time.
Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR) also responded to the scene.
