Marion County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating a fatal shooting on SE 21st Court; no arrests have been made.
SUMMERFIELD, FL (352today.com) – Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) responded early Wednesday morning to a shooting in Summerfield that left one man dead.
At approximately 7:15 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 17800 block of Southeast 21st Court after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, deputies found a white male suffering from a gunshot wound. Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) personnel also responded to the scene but pronounced the victim deceased at the location.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending family notification. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit, which has been called to continue the probe.
No arrests have been made at this time. The sheriff’s office pledged to provide updates as more information becomes available.
