OCALA, FL (352today.com)—It’s a new dawn, a new day, and a new shelter for Marion County Animal Services (MCAS).

The MCAS team says they have made “exciting progress” on the foundation of their new shelter, located at 6405 W. Highway 40 in Ocala.

MCAS is “advancing steadily” towards a ribbon-cutting ceremony sometime this December. In the meantime, they have highlighted some of the key features included in the new shelter:

  • 200 larger, more comfortable kennels with exterior runs, and room for expansion
  • Specialized floor drains to maintain a cleaner, fresher space for pets in our care, as well as guests to the facility
  • Hygienic and sound-dampening materials to create a calmer environment for our community’s pets
  • Full heating, cooling, and ventilation systems to ensure a safe and healthy atmosphere year-round

“The new shelter represents a major step forward for animal welfare in Marion County by creating a better experience with improvements to space, cleanliness, and comfort for pets awaiting their forever homes and the families looking to adopt,” says MCAS.

MCAS promises more information as the date draws closer, and directs people who want to know more to their website.
