BELLEVIEW, FL (352today.com) – When humans get their hand caught in the cookie jar, it’s a metaphor for stealing. But when a raccoon gets its head stuck in a peanut butter jar, it’s going to take a fire crew to get the creature out of the proverbial jam.

Just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Marion County Fire Rescue received a report of a raccoon with a jar on its head and stuck in a tree. The crews were dispatched to the scene at SRM Concrete at 10550 SE 58 Ave. in Belleview.

There, they deployed a fire truck platform to lift firefighters so they could reach him in the tree and perform the extrication.

The heroes who rescued the raccoon nicknamed him “Ricky” according to a post on the department’s Facebook page. Once released from the jar, “Ricky” was placed in a carrier and turned over to animal control.

“We are pleased to say that he didn’t suffer any major injuries,” said MCFR.

This is one trash panda that will probably think twice before sticking his paws in a peanut butter jar in the future.
