MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A fast-moving fire near Weirsdale and Ocklawaha burned around 125 acres and forced evacuations before being safely contained and extinguished by Marion County Fire Rescue on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.

Residents in the area of SE Malauka Loop were ordered to evacuate yesterday afternoon as crews fought the fast-moving fire, which mostly burned cattle ranching land near Lake Weir.

According to reports, the fire was mostly contained by around 5 p.m., and extinguished shortly after.

No one was injured, and no structures were damaged in the blaze.

The county had imposed a voluntary burn ban just the previous afternoon due to conditions favoring wildfires.
