MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County is proud to announce the official launch of its new Tyler Technologies’ Enterprise Permitting & Licensing (EP&L) system, marking a major step forward in efficiency, transparency, and accessibility for residents, contractors, and businesses.

This milestone represents more than just a software upgrade; it is a symbol of progress. The new system streamlines how users apply for permits, renew contractor licenses, submit and track plans, schedule inspections, and much more, all from one easy-to-use online dashboard.

“This upgrade represents a significant investment in improving service delivery for our community,” said Tracy Straub, Marion County Assistant County Administrator. “Our goal is to make the permitting process as simple, accessible, and transparent as possible.”

Manage projects from your device

Whether building a new home, renovating a business, or adding a backyard deck, the Enterprise Permitting & Licensing’s user-friendly Civic Access portal makes it easier than ever to manage projects online. Users can now apply for permits, upload plans, pay fees, and track progress directly from their computers or mobile devices. The system also provides real-time status updates and email notifications, reducing the need for phone calls or in-person visits and helping to keep projects moving smoothly.

Efficient and timesaving

The permitting process is often viewed as time-consuming and paper heavy. Our new platform moves these services entirely online, saving time, reducing paperwork, and improving communication between applicants and county staff. For county teams, this means fewer manual data entry phases and more time focusing on providing excellent customer service.

The Civic Access portal also consolidates multiple services into one convenient location by supporting online contractor license renewals, payments, property searches, and address verification requests.

This project’s success is thanks to Marion County’s Information Technology, Building Safety, Office of the County Engineer, 911 Management, Fire Rescue, and Growth Services departments. The launch event also featured representatives from the county’s vendor, Tyler Technologies, whose collaboration and dedication were crucial in bringing this system online.
