MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – On Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026,, Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Property Crimes detectives arrested 48-year-old Colby Thompson (W/M, DOB: 05/28/1977) and 38-year-old Autumn Cashman (W/F, DOB: 09/30/1987). Thompson and Cashman were both charged with Impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer, Burglary of an Occupied Conveyance, and Grand Theft. Thompson was also charged with Fraudulent Use of Credit Cards and Criminal Use of Personal Identification Information.

On December 28, 2025, MCSO was contacted by a victim who advised he was at the Regions Bank on N. Highway 314A the day before, when he was approached by Thompson and Cashman, who claimed they were undercover law enforcement detectives. During the encounter, Thompson blinded the victim with a flashlight and began to question him. While the victim was distracted, Cashman removed the victim’s wallet through the passenger side of his vehicle. Thompson also took the victim’s cellphone and spoke with the victim’s wife, during which he again claimed that they were undercover detectives.

Later that day, the victim observed fraudulent activity on his bank account and noticed charges at Walmart, Forest Fire vape shop, Dairy Queen, Marathon Gas, and an online transaction at Priority Tire. Detectives responded to Dairy Queen and Walmart to review surveillance footage. The footage clearly depicted Thompson and Cashman using the victim’s bank card to complete the fraudulent transactions. Based on the results of the investigation, a warrant was obtained for their arrest.

On January 22, 2026, Thompson and Cashman were located at their home, arrested, and transported to the Marion County Jail. They are held without bond.
