SILVER SPRINGS, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE: MCSO says the standoff is over, and deputies have taken the man who barricaded himself in a home into custody.
Deputies say it started as a verbal disturbance when a call came in just after midnight. They say the caller reported that Michael Tindall had a rifle and said he would shoot if any law enforcement responded.
It’s unclear how long it took, but deputies were able to safely get the person who reported the incident out of the house.
They say they have also now taken Tindall into custody. Tindall is a registered sex offender.
ORIGINAL: The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) SWAT team has closed off an area of Highway 314A due to a barricaded subject.
MCSO SWAT responded this morning to the 1390 block of North Highway 314A near the Ocala National Forest. The area is currently closed. MCSO says people traveling north on Highway 314A will have to find an alternate route.
According to the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), a barricaded subject is an individual who is staying inside a location without law enforcement access, and who is refusing orders to exit. A barricaded subject is not suspected of committing a crime.
