MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE 11/20: Marion County Utilities (MCU) has lifted the boil water notice for six neighborhoods (see list below). MCU says bacteriological tests show the water is safe to drink.

ORIGINAL 11/19: Marion County Utilities (MCU) has issued a precautionary boil water notice for customers in six neighborhoods within their service area.

MCU says the precautionary measure impacts the following communities:

  • Fort King Forest
  • Hi Cliff
  • Sleepy Hollow
  • Delcrest
  • Bluefields
  • Regency Estates

MCU says customers in those neighborhoods should boil water for consumption for at least one minute.

They say the precautionary notice is due to a temporary loss of pressure. They estimated repairs to the system would be completed by 10:00 p.m. Saturday night.

As an alternative, they recommend bottled water for things like drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth.

They say water used for laundry, bathing, and/or showering does not need to be boiled.

MCI will perform water testing per regulations from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and will advise when the boil water notice is lifted.
