MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) says firefighters responded to a concrete truck on fire on Thursday around 7:00 a.m. just west of the Ocklawaha River Bridge on East Highway 40 in Silver Springs after receiving multiple calls.

Firefighters responded from multiple stations. Crews say the truck was “fully involved” in flames and that the bridge would have to be shut down.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) responded also. The fire department says FDOT had concerns of the amount of oil on the bridge and sent a supervisor to the scene to evaluate.

They say the fire caused a complete closure of East Highway 40 until damage could be assessed. The roadway has since reopened.

MCFR says the truck driver was able to escape, and no injuries were reported.
