OCALA, FL (352today.com) – After 252 days at Marion County Animal Services (MCAS), this sweet boy took a ride in the passenger seat to visit the North Central Florida Media staff – and won everyone over with his lovable personality.
Axle is an 8-year-old black and white pup weighing in at about 70 pounds. One of the longest residents at MCAS, he came in as a stray back in August of 2024.
During his visit, Axle’s calm and relaxed demeanor shone through. He warmed up quickly to new faces, patiently posed for photos, and remained a gentleman – even when faced with a seemingly endless supply of treats. He knows basic commands like “sit” and “shake,” and he’s always happy to show off his skills for snacks.

Jessica from MCAS assured us that while Axle may appear laid-back, he still has a playful, puppy-like side – especially when his favorite toys come out. He’s still full of life and energy despite a bit of gray around his muzzle.
At the shelter, Axle has shown he handles stress well. He remains calm even when the environment becomes loud and highly trafficked.

When it comes to his ideal home, Jessica says he’d do best as the only dog. He’s social, but likes to be the leader of the pack.
And, perhaps most importantly, Axle loves car rides – especially if it’s with you on your coffee run and there’s a pup cup in it for him. Just don’t ask him for directions.
Adoption fees at MCAS are usually $50, but for the month of May you can take home Axle (or any of their adoptable pets) for just $5.
