OCALA, FL (352today.com) – As the weather gets nicer and the pollen clears, it’s time to get outside. But you don’t have to go alone- Marion County Animal Services (MCAS) has over 180 adoptable animals ready to spring into your life.

MCAS has two opportunities to meet your new best friend this weekend. The Run for the Springs on Saturday, April 27, is the perfect opportunity to take a shelter dog as your running buddy. This 5k event kicks off at 7:30 a.m. at Carney Island Recreation and Conservation Area in Ocklawaha.

Not ready to lace up your running shoes? You can stop by Mr. Mocha’s Pet Supplies in Belleview from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, for a FIDO Project meet & greet. The dogs in this program are learning basic obedience and socialization by Marion County inmates, under the direction of a dog trainer. FIDO graduation is on May 24, and MCAS hopes to have all of the dogs in the program adopted by then.

These pets of the week are just some of the adoptable animals you can meet this weekend.
