SUMTER COUNTY, FL (352today) – Sometimes all someone needs is another opportunity.
Dogs that end up in animal shelters often come from untoward situations through no fault of their own. And an adoption event may mean the chance for a new lease on life.
You can give a dog that second chance at the Mega Dog Adoption Event Friday, May 17, through May 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Strawberry Festival Fairgrounds in Plant City.
The second annual event is organized by the Team Godwin Foundation which was founded by Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin and his wife, Mariah.
Nine counties participate in what is considered to be central Florida’s largest canine adoption event.
There will be more than 300 dogs available for FREE from the following county animal shelters:
All of the prospective adoptees will be spayed and neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.
“This event is special because it is the combined efforts from the regional shelters of west and central Florida in a mass effort to find as many dogs as we can furever homes,” said Gary Herrero, Sumter County Animal Services Manager.
Last year, Sumter County found new homes for 30 dogs during the three-day event, with a collective total of 240 being adopted.
