GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – It’s hard to spend any time in North Central Florida without hearing about Meldon Law. From ubiquitous radio ads to philanthropy, the family law firm is practically an institution in the 352.
But the Meldon family’s roots in Gainesville run deeper than law school and a massively successful practice, particularly within the city’s celebrated music scene.
“My father Jeffrey [Meldon, the firm’s founder] was Tom Petty’s first lawyer, and kind of a pseudo music agent,” says Meldon Law Managing Partner Carey Meldon. “He helped [Petty] book music venues in the early ‘70s.”
The elder Meldon was also co-owner of the city’s Great Southern Music Hall from 1974 until ’78, bringing the long-neglected Florida Theatre back to vibrant life to host such rising musical luminaries as Waylon Jennings, Jimmy Buffett, Minnie Riperton and many more.
“Gainesville has a rich tradition in music history, including our family, which owned the Great Southern Music Hall in the ‘70s, which hosted hundreds of national artists,” Carey Meldon confirmed.
In recent years, however, big-name, A-List concert tours have routinely bypassed Gainesville in favor of larger markets in the region.
“One of the things that we really appreciate is when we get incredible concerts in Gainesville, because they just don’t come that often,” said Meldon. “When we saw that Morgan Wallen was going to be playing in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in 2026, we felt like it was an awesome opportunity to promote not only Gainesville’s music history but to help some of our community have access to incredible tickets.”
That’s why Meldon Law is sponsoring a huge ticket giveaway for May 16, 2026, the second of country-music titan Wallen’s two concerts at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, aka The Swamp. It’s the ultimate Morgan Wallen experience, featuring not just two third-row floor seats, but also dinner and a hotel stay.
“When we saw that Morgan Wallen was coming to Gainesville, it was kind of our duty to help spread the love to the people,” Carey said. “It’s an incredible opportunity to give away 2 up-front seats to the show, and they’re also going to have dinner at Spurrier’s with Lewis Stokes, the DJ from 93.7 K-Country, and my father before the event. Plus, they’re going to get a free night at the Holiday Inn, which is walking distance from the stadium. The whole thing was designed to make for an incredible experience.”
The Meldon Law Morgan Wallen Concert VIP giveaway is open to all entrants 18 & over until May 5, 2026. Meldon Law owns and is solely responsible for all aspects of the contest. Enter now!
