OCALA, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE: The fundraiser Mojo’s hosted last weekend generated $4,000 for their employee Millie.
A customer named Holly won the prize package from the raffle.
ORIGINAL 9/29: The staff and management at Mojo’s Grill & Catering are getting behind one of their own today and hope their customers will help out too.
56-year-old Millie works in the prep kitchen. She’s been with the Mojo’s family for six years. She recently lost her home in Ocala to a fire.
Millie was only gone for about an hour when a neighbor called and told her that her house was on fire.
“For Millie, worse than losing her home and belongings was losing her pets,” said Meadow Terry, Restaurant Administrative Assistant. Millie’s beloved pets included a couple of cats – one of which she had for 19 years – and a new puppy.
“Mojo’s is like a family, and when the staff heard what happened, the servers really wanted to do something for her,” said Terry. “She’s so sweet and nice, and everyone just loves her.”
So today, Friday, Sept. 29, Mojo’s is hosting a fundraiser at the Mojo’s on SR-200 by Target.
One of the ways they’re raising money is through a raffle of donated items. The prize basket includes:
- $50 Mojos gift card
- Vouchers for free entrees at Sonny’s BBQ
- Speakers from Ocala Car Audio
- Cookie jar and ice cube forms from War Horse Harley Davidson
- Helmets from RideNow Powersports
Raffle tickets cost $5 for one, or $50 for the amount of tickets that measure the width of your table (approximately 17 tickets). One person will win the entire prize pack valued at $1,200.
In addition, the wait staff is selling baked goods, ranging from cupcakes and muffins to donuts and Danishes. Alternatively, you can just drop a donation of any amount in a collection jar.
Mojo’s will have live music from the Conrad Marcum Band tonight from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. They’ll be open until 10:30 p.m. tonight, and the drawing for the raffle will happen Saturday morning.
