SUV turned into private driveway, colliding with oncoming motorcycle; 22-year-old rider died at the scene.
MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A 22-year-old Summerfield man died Monday in a crash involving an SUV on County Road 475, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
FHP said the SUV was stopped in the southbound lane of CR 475, just north of County Road 484, when the driver attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway. At the same time, a motorcycle was traveling north on CR 475 and collided with the rear passenger side of the SUV.
The impact threw the motorcyclist from his vehicle in a northwest direction. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers confirmed he was wearing a helmet.
The SUV was driven by a 19-year-old Ocala man with a 13-year-old male passenger. Neither was injured.
The crash shut down the roadway for several hours and was reopened by 8:45 p.m. The investigation is ongoing.
