OCALA, FL (352today.com) – HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital have named a new assistant chief nursing officer.
No stranger to the organization, Brooke Haddix served previously in several leadership capacities at the HCA Florida North Florida Hospital community in Gainesville since 2017. For the past three years, Haddix served as the nursing director of HCA Florida North Florida Hospital’s Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).
Haddix’s wealth of experience and critical thinking, coupled with her innovative thought process have been credited in making her the ideal nursing leader. Her supervisors say Haddix fostered a positive culture and that her competence and efficiency could be felt throughout the HCA Florida North Florida Hospital CVICU, which was focused on clinical performance and meeting the needs of a growing community.
It was under Haddix’s leadership that the CVICU was recognized nationally, receiving the Beacon Silver designation from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACCN) for her team’s role and for efforts that improved patient outcomes and aligned with practices with AACCN’s six Healthy Work Environment Standards.
Haddix also demonstrated her leadership qualities while chairing the Comprehensive Unit Based Safety Program in CVICU where the team under her charge was successful in carrying out the implementation of quality metrics, including reduced reintubation rates and infections. It was Haddix’s role as a leader that was a key component in helping HCA Florida North Hospital obtain and maintain its Transcatheter Valve Accreditation and was the co-creator of the hospital’s Cardiothoracic Enhanced Surgical Recovery bundle.
Haddix is also a member of the Galen College of Nursing Professional Advisory Committee. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice and holds an MSN in Nursing Leadership, and a Nurse Executive certification.
