OCALA, FL (352today.com) — If you’ve ever dreamed of working in hotels, resorts, event planning, or tourism, the College of Central Florida (CF) is making it easier to turn that passion into a career.

Starting in Fall 2025, CF is launching a new Hospitality and Tourism Management program, built to help students step confidently into one of Florida’s most in-demand industries.

Start small, dream big

The program kicks off with the Guest Services Specialist certificate — a short-term option that teaches the skills needed for entry-level roles like concierge, guest services associate, or front desk coordinator. Students will also be ready to earn certifications that employers are looking for, including:

  • Certified Guest Service Professional (CGSP)
  • ServSafe Food Manager/Handler

From there, students can move right into the Associate in Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, where they’ll learn about hotel operations, event planning, tourism marketing, and leadership.

Real-world experience that counts

What sets this program apart is its strong connection to the local industry. Students will gain hands-on experience through internships, networking events, and partnerships with big names like the World Equestrian Center.

“One of CF’s key focuses is to provide programs that meet the workforce needs of local businesses and organizations, and we’ve developed this new Hospitality and Tourism Management degree to do just that,” said John Ash, CF dean of business, technology and agricultural sciences.

He added, “With an average salary for industry professionals of around $29 an hour and rapid job growth in Marion County, we’re excited to be able to offer local students the opportunity to become part of Florida’s $1.2+ billion tourism industry.”
